Those of you with federal government jobs: How long did the hiring process take?

The federal government is notorious for having a very long and drawn out hiring process. It isn't uncommon for a person to apply for a job in January and not hear anything until May or June.

After submitting a resume through USAjobs, filling out the occupational questionnaire, making the selection list and participating in a second interview how long does it usually take after this interview for the government to reach a hiring decision?

Would you share some of the experiences you have had with federal government employment?

well i don't have a federal job but i do have a State job i work for the State of Arkansas as a Correctional Officer at the State prison in Arkansas. well the hiring part isn't long but you have a 7 week training program to go to everyday except saturdays and sundays. but the good thing is you get paid every 2 weeks while getting trained at their training academy.

Reply:Well, it took them about 3 months to get back me. it all varies upon the amount of people who are applying for the position. Usually they will call you in for a interview. Then its another long process after that. I say a good 1 1/2 to 2 months after the initial interview.
