Republicans: Do you honestly think the Democrats will impose massive tax increases?

This question is from the recently mailed Republican Party Census Document Questionnaire:

"Should we make it our fight against the Democrats' massive tax hikes a central part of the 2008 campaign?"

Which Democratic candidate is planning to massively raise taxes? When was the last massive tax increase by Democrats?

Republicans: Do you honestly think the Democrats will impose massive tax increases?
Spending increases are tax increases whether or not you raise taxes to pay for them now, or leave a debt behind so that some later administration must raise taxes to pay the interest. Currently 19% of the budget is interest on the debt, most of it was accumulated since 1980. If the democrats decide to be fiscally responsibe they will have to raise taxes to pay for Bush's debt and the Republicans will all feel vindicated in their predictions. If instead they continue to run the government using deficits the Republicans will point out how fiscally irespinsible democrats are.
Reply:Yes they are already wanting to get rid of the tax cuts. This is a proposal they have made already. They will have to make an enormous tax raise to put in all the free social programs they keep promising.
Reply:Democrats always raise taxes. They declare war on the rich.

Not extending the Bush tax cuts is a tax increase. There is one for you.

Then they increase regulations that cause artificial inflation. That is a tax increase also.
Reply:It is not so much if the Republicans actually believe any of this drivel.. it is," how can we find something to run on" Our record is very poor... unless you count the very unpopular war...

It's kind of funny really.. but I love to see them struggle!
Reply:The sad fact about this questionnaire is that the Republicans have left out one TINY little detail:

They've increased taxes on the working poor, the lower and middle, middle-class and cut taxes for the rich, the wealthy, and big business.

What they don't want is a reversal of fortune:

NAMELY THEIRS.
Reply:One side calls it raising taxes, the other side calls it closing loopholes and putting a stop to unfair tax breaks. Thing is, nobody is talking WHAT taxes and WHO will pay them. Unless you're among the richest 5% or so, then you don't have a thing to worry about.

And unless you're already in the richest 10%, it's highly unlikely that you or your children ever will be -- so you'd be a darn fool to work against the best interests of people like yourself on the basis of some dream that you will someday be a member of the elite.
Reply:Eh, Clinton.... You know, the last democrat president. You may know him, his wife is now the front runner.
Reply:Is a bullfrogs butt hole water tight?
Reply:When I listen to Hillary and her "million ideas for America", it does not take a CPA to figure out that she will raise taxes to fund those million ideas.

Pardigms that will not change:

2+2 still equals 4

The moon is not made of green cheese.

Money does not grow on trees.

Democrats think that money does grow on trees.

And they are bound and determined to steal it all.

The last massive tax hike was in 1993 and signed into law by Mr. Hillary Clinton.

93 Billion dollars to be exacts.

Thats $93,000,000,000. Lot of zeros, huh.
Reply:I'm a fiscal conservative, and I know damn well that Gore would have spent much less had he been president. Republicans are forgetting what "conservative" really means.
Reply:Makes you wonder how Bush is paying for his war. Are those billions of dollars falling from the sky?
Reply:If the taxes on the rich were put back to the levels before Reagan cut their taxes, we would pull out of our deficit in a few years.
Reply:The democrats have always raised taxes. Why should this time be any different. All the democrat candidates are telling everyone that they will raise taxes. The last democrat president that raised taxes, bill clinton.
Reply:I'm not sure if they'll impose MASSIVE tax increases. It's how they spend the taxes they receive that concern me. That is the real difference between Democrats and Republicans.
Reply:Of course they will. It's in their DNA.
