What do you call a person conducting a survey?

For example, I'm conducting a research about the effects of the Internet to Students, and I have the questionnaires and all that. What am I? I was considering "proponet", but the dictionary says "a proponent is a person who supports a cause or in favor of something." and i think my case does not apply. What do you guys think?
