I distributed 25 questionnaires.
I want to convert the answers into percents.
For example, question one: What is your fav food? (check all that apply)
10 votes for pizza
12 votes for spaghetti
23 votes for anything Italian
and the list goes on...How do I convert the answers into a percent?
How do I convert my questionnaire answers into percents%?
Solution:
individual divided by the total. Then convert this fraction into perentage.
example:
10 votes for pizza is 1/(10+12+23) *100%
= 10/45 *100%
= 22.2%
Whereas 12 votes for spaghetti is
12/45 *100
= 26.67%
and 23 votes is 51.1 %
Hope this helps.

Reply:For example:
Pizza:
10 / 25
40% of people polled enjoy pizza
Spaghetti:
12/25
48% of people polled enjoy spaghetti
Anything Italian
23/25
92% of people polled enjoy anything Italian
But your experiment is flawed. You can't ask people their favourite food out of the three and then say "check all that apply", this is why the percentages add up to more than 100%.
Reply:The total sum of votes for the 3 food-types would be:
Sum = 10 votes + 12 votes + 23 votes = 45 votes
Then percentage:
10 votes for pizza : 10/45 x 100% = 22,22%
12 votes for spaghetti: 12/45 x 100% = 26,67%
23 votes for anything Italian: 23/45 x 100% = 51,11%
