Below are four questions that might be found on questionnaires. Comment on each as to whether or not it is a good question. If it is not, explain why %26amp; rephrase the questions.

a“Do you think Coca – Cola is a tasty and refreshing soft drink?”

bHow many bottles of cold drink did you consume during the last four weeks?

cDo you own a Debit/Credit Card?

dWhat is the per capita income of your family?

Below are four questions that might be found on questionnaires. Comment on each as to whether or not it is a?
{a} not good, leads one to only consider coca cola as a tasty drink. instead: "which soft drink do you find to be tasty and refreshing?"

{b} not good, four weeks is too long for most people to remember for this type of information. instead: "how many bottles of cold drink have you consumed THIS week?"

{c} okay.

{d} not good, instead of asking someone to calculate "per capita" income, better to lay out categories. instead, "what is your family income level?" and give five or six ranges, such as $30,000-$50,000. be warned: people will exaggerate!

good luck!
Reply:1. what brand of soft drinks do you drink ? doesn't limit to coca - cola as there are other brands.

2. how many bottles or cans of the aforementioned soft drink do you consume in a week ? a shorter time period for a person to remember

3. if this question was asked would leave it blank or put in the initials N.O.Y.D.B.

4. if this question was asked would leave it blank or put in the initials N.O.Y.D.B.
Reply:Questions a and b are OK.

Question c may be misleading as on the back of every ATM/Credit Card there is a disclaimer stating the card is owned by the issuing company. Rephrased it might read, "Have you been issued a Debit/Credit Card"?

Question d is very wrong and is difficult to understand what exactly is wanted. Per capita means each person, but there is no time frame to equate to. One possibility is "What is the (annual/weekly) income of your family. Another possibility is "What is the (annual/weekly) income of each of your family members."
Reply:a is fine . non intrusive useful for coke to know.

b is the same as a for the most part.

c intrusive and not needed nor should people answer this.

d very intrusive never answer that question ever.
Reply:A “Do you think Coca – Cola is a tasty and refreshing soft drink?”

"Coca - Cola" should read either Coke or CocaCola because to see Coca seperate has a wrong connotation and can throw the readers. Then you should change "do you think" to, "would you say" to personalize it and to make it less about their intellectual knowledge, and more about their opinion. So the question would best read: "Would you say that Coke is a tasty and refershing soft drink on average?" You have to include the "on average" because there are varying degrees of refreshing and tasty.

B How many bottles of cold drink did you consume during the last four weeks?

I would omit cold drink and add soda/pop, because water could be a cold drink, so bottle water. If you are meaning everything including water and juice, then say beverages. "How many bottles of cold beverages have you consumed during the past four weeks?"

C Do you own a Debit/Credit Card?

Do you mean: "Do you own a debit or a credit card?" or "Do you own a debit card with credit capabilities. People always read questions differently. For a successful questionnaire, you have to put it as simple, but objective as possible, that leaves minimal room for interpretation.

D What is the per capita income of your family?

That's fine I guess. Not everyone knows what per capita means then, so you're data could be a little off. Actualyl, will definately be a little off.
