Study on the effectiveness of self-reported questionnaires?

Hi,

I am wondering if anyone knows of any studies that have been completed that have looked at the reliability of self- reported questionnaires. I am looking specifically at a study which involved children reporting on their parents methods, and I am questioning how reliable their answers may be. I need professional studies, rather than just opinions.
