As part of my A Level course work i need to create a website for a client and i need to find out the client requirements using some form of information retrieval i.e. questionnaire. i basically need to ask some questions such as what font size etc. but it has to be through so everything i could possibly ask when creating a website for someone but keep it realistic
What questions to ask a client to find out their client requirements?
"What are your requirements for this website?" Then list choices in boxes of all preferences for them to rate , high to low.
Reply:Hello happy to help i run my own business and have had several people come and chat about creating a web page for our business. We picked the company that would work with US and do what WE wanted not the ones who said we will do it. Our reason is we have been running this for five years and we know what information we wanted in our add to create a response.
First of all you need to ask your clients as much as you can about their business.Show a real interest in what they do so you need to first take all that down then:
name
address
phone numbers
fax numbers
web address
any information about their business what is it, what do they sell, what clients they wish to attract ect
what information THEY want in their webb page
what pictures they want to use
their compnay loggo
where they want to advertise it ie Goodle ect
To be honest the lay out it what the client want depending on space and how many pages they want. Some companies will opt for just one page some will want three or four to display their products.
The idea for any advert is you have to put as much information as you can about that company and more important what will be in it for a customer. For instance if they offer a five year guarantee with product lots of people like this so it has to go in.
What ever the product it is what is in it for that customer to click on and then contact them and use them.
A brief background of business IE: How long long they have been trading.
Not sure how detailed you have to be but for A level your research will be fast as you have to prove you have really covered all areas just like any subject.
Font size, colour of ad, pictures are also to be considered.
I hope I have helped you and good luck.
PS Forgot many want a map put on if it is a place a client can visit.
Reply:Requirements elicitation becomes easier when you have been through the process of creating something a few times, and you know what the important choices are. So, you could try actually creating a small, simple website, and see what decisions you have to make, these are the answers you need from your client. Remember that often a client finds it easiest to select from a few sensible options, like "do you prefer web page style A, B or C", rather than open-ended questions like "What point size would you like the text in?".
